It depends on what sort of investing you're considering doing with Vanguard. 

If you're planning to purchase Exchange Traded Funds directly, while the costs may be comparable you need to take the responsibility yourself of identifying the correct asset class mix, reinvesting your dividends, and rebalancing the portfolio - i.e. the work of portfolio management.

If you're intending to invest with a Vanguard model portfolio, they have investment minimums which are much higher than the Clover minimum investment, and like above the onus still remains with you to identify that you're choosing the right portfolio for your financial circumstances and risk tolerance.
